Areas We Serve – Long Island

Home / Areas We Serve – Long Island

Here at Mark Eghrari and Associates, we take our commitment to our neighbors here on Long Island to heart. We live on the most populated island in the entire country, and in fact, approximately 40 percent of New York residents are living here on Long Island.

We Proudly Serve Our Neighbors on Long Island

Our offices are located in Smithtown, which is in Suffolk County, one of the four counties on Long Island. Ours is a community within the broader Long Island community, and our area has a certain unique sense of identity.

Living here has many advantages. You can spend your entire life on Long Island without having the opportunity to experience everything that you can do and see that is just an hour or two away from your front door. We live in an area of great natural beauty, nestled alongside Smithtown Bay, and at the same time, we have access to all of the amenities that city dwellers enjoy.

When you think about community, the place itself is only a limited part of the equation. There isn’t much community if a piece of land is unoccupied. The people that live in Smithtown are what the community is all about. Those of us who work here at Mark Eghrari and Associates are fully aware this dynamic, and we endeavor to contribute to the fabric of the town that we live in each and every day.

If you decide to partner with our firm to create your estate plan, you will feel very comfortable from the outset. We are Long Island locals, and we have all of the same experiences that our clients do; we go to the same places and do the same things. You can rest assured that we are down to earth, everyday people that you can speak with freely.

This dynamic is very important, because you have to discuss rather personal family and financial matters when you work with an estate planning law firm. It takes a genuine person to provide a genuine ear, and that’s what you will find if you develop a relationship with us.

Mark J. Eghrari has a deep connection to the area. He has been practicing law since 1988, and he earned his MBA in Banking and Finance from Hofstra right here on Long Island, and he continued on to earn his Juris Doctorate from the Hofstra University School of Law.

Mr. Eghrari is a sought-after public speaker. He takes the time to educate various different community groups on a regular basis, and he is active in the community in many other ways.

Preserving Your Legacy with an Estate Planning Attorney from Long Island

We emphasize the fact that estate planning is a process that is going to be different for each family. There are many possibilities, and the optimal course of action will depend on the circumstances.

For example, estate taxes can be a concern for financially successful people. There is a federal estate tax, and in New York, we also have a state-level estate tax. There are steps that you can take to preserve your assets if your estate is going to be subject to taxation.

The personal situation of each person on your inheritance list is also a factor. It is possible to protect a loved one who is not very good with money. You can implement asset protection safeguards, and you don’t have to leave lump sums through the creation of a last will.

There is also the matter of special needs planning. If you take the right steps, you can set aside resources for the benefit of a loved one with special needs without impacting eligibility for government benefits like Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income.

These are just a couple of the unique scenarios that can exist, but there are others. If you work with our firm, we can help you devise a plan that is carefully crafted as a response to your specific personal situation.

We also help clients who are concerned about long-term care costs. Medicare does not pay for living assistance, and it is very expensive. Medicaid does pay for long-term care, but it takes careful planning to qualify without losing resources in the process.
