There is a lot to think about if you are interested in qualifying for Medicaid as a way to pay for long-term care. If you are a married person who needs long-term care you are obviously going to be concerned about the well-being of your spouse. The Medicaid program does allow the healthy or community spouse to retain ownership of half of community property up to a certain limit. In 2013 this limit is $115,920.
